Kevin Schlaman new head chef at Restaurant Intens

Restaurant Intens, the fine-dining restaurant at Thermen Bussloo, has a new head chef: Kevin Schlaman. Since September, Schlaman has been leading the kitchen at the restaurant in Voorst. The chef is introducing surprising flavors and new culinary experiences to the menu. “Guests can look forward to an evening where their taste buds will be truly stimulated,” says Schlaman.

With his experience and creative vision, Schlaman is a well-known name in the Dutch culinary scene. “We are proud and delighted that Kevin has been part of our culinary team since September 1,” says Fabian Dolman, director of Thermen Resorts. “Restaurant Intens is a household name for our spa guests as well as for visitors who come to Voorst especially for Intens. With Schlaman as our new head chef, we will pamper and surprise our guests even more—that’s for sure.”

Culinary Vision and Surprises
Thermen Bussloo had long had its eye on Schlaman. The chef’s vision aligns seamlessly with that of Thermen Resorts and the Restaurant Intens team. “I love giving Dutch products a prominent stage,” says Schlaman. “Our Dutch soil provides incredible products. As a chef, I see it as my mission to convince guests of this. A culinary evening is not necessarily about expensive or exclusive products—it’s the local ingredients that make a dish unique and deliver the surprises.”

Schlaman works extensively with vegetables, herbs, and flowers. “That creates very exciting flavor combinations. Slow cooking is also part of my kitchen. In addition, I carefully consider what can be done with the leftovers of a product—not just throwing things away, that’s such a waste. Farmers put a lot of love into it, and animals have had a good life. As chefs, we need to treat that with much more respect. Intens and I share that philosophy, which forms a beautiful foundation to make the menu even more flavorful and engaging.”
